Managers & Commissioners
These pages are aimed at practice managers in primary care but may be of use to any interested health care professional. The aim of this module to is stimulate interest about creating your own additional high quality service for homeless patients without it simply being an addition to existing workload.
Asking surgeries to provide better care for a group of patients with difficult and complex issues and needs (not just medical) without creating any form of headroom will increase stress. Thankfully, it may be possible to do so BY CREATING EXTRA HEADROOM. By creating more time and forging closer links with other local agencies we don;t just think practices can avoid the extra stress of becoming more involved with the needs of homeless patients but may actually REDUCE STRESS and INCREASE SATISFACTION.
This module is split into two sections:

This module is split into two sections:
- Access for homeless patients - discusses how homeless patients might register with a mainstream surgery
- How to improve your service (and create headroom and reduce stress) - introduces the concept of a 'hybrid model' or 'non specialist' homeless primary care service and proposes a possible guide to creating a better local service.
